No Election Day Surprises - At least from Baby Girls!

35 weeks and all is well! Another great appointment today. We had our growth check ultrasound along with the BPP and moved up a little in the world - 4.9% at 35 weeks! Hooray! Still SGA, BUT at least we didn't fall off the growth curve of 3% at 32 weeks. Estimated weight is 4lbs 9oz. Go baby girl! Yeah, that's off from the "typical" 5 1/2 lbs you'd see in a normal curve, but still, we'll take it. Definitely continuing to grow, even if at a slightly slower pace. Fluid levels and the NST were all good. My blood pressure was good (not as great as last week) at 142/81, but well within an acceptable range.

We're now scheduled for a c-section at 37 weeks on Tuesday, November 18th at 12:30pm. Basically, the medical protocol for SGA is to get to 37 weeks (provided there are no complications) and then to induce/c-section. The risks of perinatal distress and even mortality (I'm trying to be sensitive) rise significantly after that point. Essentially the risk is that an underlying issue could crop up quickly and cause major concern.

The interesting part is that if for some reason I should go into labor myself before then, I MAY actually have a shot at a VBAC (which I didn't think I would). Dr D wasn't totally confident in that idea; simply because she doesn't know why we have the SGA and is concerned about the baby. However, if I happen to go into labor and we're both progressing well during a fairly quick timeline then we might have a shot. We won't even think about that until next week!

So, now we'll just see if the day goes as well for Daddy as it did for Mommy and Baby!
